Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

The Department for Education (DfE) has funded more than 500 practitioners, including SEN Specialist Leaders of Education in its use.

The Department has funded two partnerships between special and mainstream schools in each region to undertake school to school reviews of SEND provision and identify and test opportunities for collaborative working practice across the sectors to improve provision.

The Whole School SEND Consortium brings together schools, organisations and individuals who are committed to ensuring that every child and young person with SEND can achieve their potential at school.

School improvement for SEND

The SEND Review supports schools to raise standards for children with SEND through a bespoke package of support. The review helps schools to identify areas for improvement within their SEND provision, equip those supporting school improvement to review and create improvement plans for SEND provision, and help embed a focus on SEND into school improvement practices.
