Getting to Grips with Great SEND Governance

This event will take place between 4:00pm and 5:30pm on 04/11/2021

This three-part webinar series will be an accessible course for all those in leadership and governance to understand their roles and responsibilities, audit and evaluation mechanisms, and best practice examples in relation to SEND governance.

This course has been specifically designed to support all governance personnel in fulfilling their statutory duties and to prepare for external scrutiny. The series will support those responsible for governance in both maintained and academy sectors.

Part  1 - Thursday 14th Oct 2021, 16:00-17:30: Governance Structures and Legislative Frameworks - This session will provide clarification on the legal status of governance personnel in maintained and academy sectors, share common models of governance and the associated roles and responsibilities.

Part 2 - Thursday 4th Nov 2021, 16:00-17:30: Evaluating the effectiveness of SEND Governance - This session will give an introduction to models of evaluation, including self-evaluation/ peer to peer/ expert-led models. Presenters will also share the MAT and SEND Governance Review Frameworks and provide cross-sector examples of effective use of SEND Governance Review.

Part 3 – Thursday 25th Nov 2021, 16:00-17:30: Sharing best practice examples of SEND Governance - The session will conclude the series by sharing further examples of good practice and ensuring that personnel responsible for governance in all settings understand their roles and responsibilities and are enabled to support best practice in their settings.
