The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed that scholarship funding for the Autumn 2026 cohort will support teachers and leaders in schools and educational settings serving disadvantaged communities.

Scholarships to cover the full cost of NPQs will be available to:

• The 50% of schools with the highest proportion of Pupil Premium funding.
• 16-19 education settings identified as having high levels of disadvantage.
• Teachers and leaders in RISE-targeted schools 
• NPQLL applicants can apply for funding via English Hubs (for schools not meeting NPQ scholarship criteria). 

Additionally, scholarships are available for all teachers and leaders in publicly funded schools and 16-19 educational settings for the following NPQs:

• NPQH
• NPQSENCo
• NPQSL

Scholarship funding is available for the early years leadership NPQ (NPQEYL) for publicly funded early years settings and maintained nursery schools, including:

• private, voluntary, independent (PVI) settings
• Ofsted-registered early years childminders
• maintained nursery schools
• those working in publicly-funded early years educational settings                                                      

For the Leading Teacher Development NPQ, scholarship funding is available if you: 

• work in a school or setting that appears on one of the disadvantage lists 
• are taking on the role of lead mentor for an ITT provider accredited to deliver ITT from September 2024 (this includes those working in non-school settings or in schools not otherwise eligible under the disadvantage criteria) 

Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO)

• Within the first five years of headship 
• Enrolled in or having completed the NPQ for Headship
