Happy New [Academic] Year!

Welcome back! I hope you and your colleagues have enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing summer.

I'd like to use this edition of our newsletter to highlight the wide range of opportunities (many fully-funded for Bradford schools and some for fully-funded for other schools) available to you and your colleagues in this new academic year.

In 2020-21, Bradford Teaching School Hub worked tirelessly to develop the partnerships and infrastructure for these offers. In 2021-22, we shift our focus to delivering these high-quality offers.

We look forward to working in partnership with you and supporting your school's journey.

Best wishes

Paul

Early Career Framework (ECF)

It's not too late to register any additional early career teachers and their mentor for our Early Career Teachers programme delivered in partnership with Ambition Institute. However, schools need to act quickly. The final Mentor Induction Conference is on Thursday 9th September 2021. An Early Career Framework-based induction is an entitlement of all early career teachers from 1st September 2021. Signing up for our programme is the easiest option for schools.

Appropriate Body service for the quality assurance of early career teacher induction

Schools not only need to register their early career teacher and mentor for an Early Career Framework-based induction training and support offer, the school needs to register with an Appropriate Body for the quality assurance of the induction. This is a statutory requirement.

Bradford Teaching School Hub offers this service.

National Professional Qualifications - scholarships available to all state-funded schools

2021-22 brings the introduction of new and revised National Professional Qualifications. Scholarship funding is available to all state-funded schools for the National Professional Qualification for Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD) and National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) for schools with a new headteacher.

Some schools - those in the top 30th percentile of pupils eligible for the Pupil Premium - can access scholarship funding for the other NPQs, too. We have provided a link to the eligible schools below.

NPQ programmes commence in November 2021 so now is the time to apply.

NQT+1 Development Programme for primary

Your NQT+1 teacher(s) have experienced a disrupted initial teacher training programme and NQT year. The DfE has allocated funding to support these teachers (unless they are already involved in the early roll-out of the Early Career Framework). To support these teachers, Harden Primary School will be offering a training and support programme that schools can fund using the grant.

Bradford Teaching School Hub, led by Copthorne Primary School and Exceed Academies Trust, has a leading role in signposting and delivering teacher development support to all 213 Bradford schools and our partners in other regions wishing to access support from Bradford Teaching School Hub.

The Hub helps to fulfil one of Exceed Academies Trust's ethical goals: to contribute to system-wide improvements in education.

Designated by the Department for Education (DfE) in February 2020, Bradford Teaching School Hub’s core functions support schools and trusts to invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders. We will achieve this through a place-based approach to signposting and delivering high-quality progressive teacher development programmes that complement the internal support provided by schools and trusts. Our vision acknowledges teacher and leadership development are two of the most important forms of school improvement. We will achieve this by enhancing partnership working with schools, trusts and high-quality providers; improving the communication of opportunities with the workforce; introducing new professional learning opportunities; supporting teachers and leaders to make informed choices when selecting continuous professional development (CPD) and support, and ensuring that no school is left behind.
