Dear Colleague,

As we quickly move towards the end of the academic year I'd like to take this opportunity to highlight some new initiatives, funding and programmes for schools. Some of these relate to statutory changes to provision, others may support school improvement priorities in your trust or school.

DfE funding to support your current NQTs in 2021-22. Schools can claim £1,200 to flexibility support these teachers following the Covid-related disruption to their ITT and NQT year. More information here.

Trust and School Improvement Fund. Schools judged RI are eligible for funded support. More information here.

Early Career Framework (ECF). An ECF-based induction is statutory for all early career teachers (ECT) commencing their teaching career in September 2021. Nick Gibb MP has written to all schools about this. Bradford Teaching School Hub is delivering the Early Career Teachers programme with Ambition Institute. Schools can register their ECTs for this here. Our Mentor conferences commence on the 8th July 2021 for those that have registered and completed the onboarding process.

Bradford Opportunity Area-funded support for coaching. We are delighted to offer funded coaching support for headteachers and/or senior leadership teams for 2021-22. Headteachers have told us about the challenges of dealing with Covid-19 and their desire to re-focus on school improvement. Our Culture and Coaching Offer helps them to do this. Please take a look at our webpage and express an interest in the funded offer.

Scholarships for National Professional Qualifications. We anticipate details of the DfE's scholarship funding and eligibility criteria imminently. The government have allocated £184m to the NPQs are part of their Covid-recovery plans. Colleagues can find out more about each NPQ, including the new specialist NPQs, here.

In the remainder of this newsletter, I've included links to other opportunities for your school or trust to benefit from support. I hope you find this useful.

My colleague, Emma Dobson, is liaising directly with colleagues registered for the Early Career Teachers programme. We look forward to supporting you to implement this programme.

Best wishes,

Paul Butler

Director of Bradford Teaching School Hub

Bradford Teaching School Hub, led by Copthorne Primary School and Exceed Academies Trust, has a leading role in signposting and delivering teacher development support to all 213 Bradford schools and our partners in other regions wishing to access support from Bradford Teaching School Hub.

The Hub helps to fulfil one of Exceed Academies Trust's ethical goals: to contribute to system-wide improvements in education.

Designated by the Department for Education (DfE) in February 2020, Bradford Teaching School Hub’s core functions support schools and trusts to invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders. We will achieve this through a place-based approach to signposting and delivering high-quality progressive teacher development programmes that complement the internal support provided by schools and trusts. Our vision acknowledges teacher and leadership development are two of the most important forms of school improvement. We will achieve this by enhancing partnership working with schools, trusts and high-quality providers; improving the communication of opportunities with the workforce; introducing new professional learning opportunities; supporting teachers and leaders to make informed choices when selecting continuous professional development (CPD) and support, and ensuring that no school is left behind.

Find out more about our vision, strategies and priorities here.
