Dear Colleague,

I am delighted to introduce myself, Emma Dobson, as the new Director of Exceed Teaching school Hub. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Paul Butler for his hard work over the past 2 years in establishing the core functions of the Hub in supporting Teacher development.

As the academic year gets off to a busy start, I would like to share with you a few updates around the Hubs remit.

Programme Leads:

To ensure the implementation of ECF Based training and NPQs programmes is as effective as possible, we have appointed a ECT Programme Lead, Mehreen Ali as well as a NPQ Programme Lead, Kuljinder Shokar. Both are experienced teachers and leaders and committed to ensuring all participants are supported and get the very best out of the National Programmes we are delivering.

Early Career Teacher Programme:

It has been fantastic to meet, in person the majority of our ECTs and Mentors over the past six weeks, at various Conference events. We have welcomed 219 teachers that are new to the profession as well as 172 new mentors. An additional, 47 Year 2 Early Career teachers have joined our 2021 cohort along with a further 30 mentors. Attendance to all induction events has been excellent seeing programmes get off to a great start!

Mentor Payments:

The Teaching School Hub Council has alerted us that the first payments for Mentors who are accessing training with one of the DfE funded training providers i.e., Ambition, should have received their first payment.

Appropriate Body

We have seen a significant increase in schools using Exceed TSHub as an Appropriate Body, which is great. Please ensure that you have registered any newly appointed ECTs with an AB before the 19th of October, please note that this registration is in addition to signing up to the ECF Based Training and is actioned via ECT Manager.

NPQs:

First the first time we are running multiple NPQ Programmes over 3 cohorts. Our November 2021 Specialist NPQ participants are fast approach the assessment window where they will respond to a case study within a set time frame, we wish them luck! This month  also sees the launch of 7 new NPQ Programmes for our October 2022 cohorts, recruitment has been fantastic with many applicants overflowing into our Feb 2023 cohort.

Our team is very much looking forward to working with you this year, so don't hesitate to get in touch!

Exceed Teaching School Hub, led by Copthorne Primary School and Exceed Academies Trust, has a leading role in signposting and delivering teacher development support to all 215 Bradford schools and our partners in other regions wishing to access support from Exceed Teaching School Hub.

The Hub helps to fulfil one of Exceed Academies Trust's ethical goals: to contribute to system-wide improvements in education.

Designated by the Department for Education (DfE) in February 2020, Exceed Teaching School Hub’s core functions support schools and trusts to invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders. We will achieve this through a place-based approach to signposting and delivering high-quality progressive teacher development programmes that complement the internal support provided by schools and trusts. Our vision acknowledges teacher and leadership development are two of the most important forms of school improvement. We will achieve this by enhancing partnership working with schools, trusts and high-quality providers; improving the communication of opportunities with the workforce; introducing new professional learning opportunities; supporting teachers and leaders to make informed choices when selecting continuous professional development (CPD) and support, and ensuring that no school is left behind.

Find out more about our vision, strategies and priorities here.
