Dear Colleague,

Today I am providing a brief reminder of key opportunities and actions for schools this term to be ready for the new academic year.

1. Ensure you have informed the DfE whether you envisage appointing an ECT for September. Even if you don't think you will be, please record this with the DfE in this new annual exercise.

2. If your schools doesn't have an Induction Tutor registered with the DfE (probably because your school hasn't appointed an ECT since September 2021), please register one.

2. If you appoint an ECT, set-up their induction. This includes a) ECF based training for the ECT and Mentor; b) appoint an Appropriate Body (from September 2023* only teaching school hubs will provide this service); and c) plan to provide the ECT with their statutory entitlement.

3. October's National Professional Qualification programmes will not be recruiting at the time that teacher appraisals takes place. Therefore, we encourage you and your colleagues to apply now. The deadline is 13th September. Full scholarship funding is available to state funded schools and 16-19 organisations. Plus, schools with less than 600 pupils will receive £200 per participant to support them to access NPQs.

4. Provide us and the DfE with your feedback via our short Annual Survey. This is vitally important to us as a hub so we would ask the headteacher of your school to complete this as soon as possible.

Best wishes

Paul

Teaching School Hub Annual Leader Satisfaction Survey

The DfE have asked all teaching school hubs to gather feedback on the work of the hub.

Therefore, we have created a short online survey that we would ask every school to complete, ideally by 1st July 2022.

We would appreciate the Headteacher completing this in collaboration with their team.

Scholarships are available for state-funded schools; state-funded 16-19 organisations; independent schools; independent special schools; private, voluntary and independent nurseries; childminders with leadership responsibilities; virtual schools; hospital schools; and young offender institutions.**

Exceed Teaching School Hub, led by Copthorne Primary School and Exceed Academies Trust, has a leading role in signposting and delivering teacher development support to all 215 Bradford schools and our partners in other regions wishing to access support from Exceed Teaching School Hub.

The Hub helps to fulfil one of Exceed Academies Trust's ethical goals: to contribute to system-wide improvements in education.

Designated by the Department for Education (DfE) in February 2020, Exceed Teaching School Hub’s core functions support schools and trusts to invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders. We will achieve this through a place-based approach to signposting and delivering high-quality progressive teacher development programmes that complement the internal support provided by schools and trusts. Our vision acknowledges teacher and leadership development are two of the most important forms of school improvement. We will achieve this by enhancing partnership working with schools, trusts and high-quality providers; improving the communication of opportunities with the workforce; introducing new professional learning opportunities; supporting teachers and leaders to make informed choices when selecting continuous professional development (CPD) and support, and ensuring that no school is left behind.
