Good morning!

With 2021-22 National Professional Qualification cohorts now full and delivery underway, Exceed Teaching School Hub is already working hard behind the scenes to prepare for 2022-23 whilst not losing sight of our current programmes and cohorts. We still have a few Early Career Teachers joining our fully funded Full Induction Programme with Ambition Institute and registrations to our school-led Appropriate Body service keep coming. We are quality assuring our programmes; supporting participants and facilitators; enhancing our registration processes for next year whilst working with the DfE and partners to provide feedback on their systems; scheduling conferences and events for our 2022-23 programmes; considering our wider teacher development offer for the next academic year; and more! We will reopen registration for the 2022-23 cohorts of the ECT programme and NPQs as soon as we get the green light from the DfE. This is closed for all providers at present.

We continue to collaborate with the Bradford Opportunity Area. A new offer is emerging that we hope to bring to trusts in the coming weeks. We think this is exciting and will help the sustainable legacy of the Opportunity Area.

Huge congratulations to everyone involved in last week's Bradford for Teaching LIVE! events, including the ITT Conference on Friday 18th March. I was delighted to be able to talk to trainees about the Early Career Framework. A copy of my presentation is provided below. There are more events this week, including two further NPQ taster events (Tuesday and Thursday). Check out the website for details:  https://www.bradfordteaching.org/

Best wishes

Paul

Senior Mental Health Lead grant and briefing: 29/03/22, 1:30pm

The DfE has just confirmed an additional £3 million of funding alongside Children's Mental Health Week, which enables schools and colleges in England to apply for grant funding on courses starting before the 31st May https://www.gov.uk/guidance/senior-mental-health-lead-training

Schools / Colleges can decide who they nominate for the training as every setting’s circumstances are different. The training could be for:

  • If not a senior leader, an appropriate member of staff, working with colleagues, who are empowered to develop and oversee your setting’s whole school or college approach

Our briefing event will introduce the offer and two local providers of training: Bradford Council and Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools. Follow the link, below, to book your place:

Appointing an ECT for 2022-23?

You will need to ensure your school registers the Induction Tutor/Coordinator, Early Career Teacher, and their Mentor with:

  • A lead provider. Exceed Teaching School Hub has delivered the fully-funded Full Induction Programme with Ambition Institute in 2021-22;
  • The Department for Education (DfE) to secure funding for the ECF based training and support programme and the costs your school will incur for the release of staff; and
  • An Appropriate Body, such as Exceed Teaching School Hub, for the quality assurance of induction, including termly progress reviews and annual assessments.

These processes will commence during the summer term. For now, you can find out more about our offer:

Exceed Teaching School Hub, led by Copthorne Primary School and Exceed Academies Trust, has a leading role in signposting and delivering teacher development support to all 215 Bradford schools and our partners in other regions wishing to access support from Bradford Teaching School Hub.

The Hub helps to fulfil one of Exceed Academies Trust's ethical goals: to contribute to system-wide improvements in education.

Designated by the Department for Education (DfE) in February 2020, Exceed Teaching School Hub’s core functions support schools and trusts to invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders. We will achieve this through a place-based approach to signposting and delivering high-quality progressive teacher development programmes that complement the internal support provided by schools and trusts. Our vision acknowledges teacher and leadership development are two of the most important forms of school improvement. We will achieve this by enhancing partnership working with schools, trusts and high-quality providers; improving the communication of opportunities with the workforce; introducing new professional learning opportunities; supporting teachers and leaders to make informed choices when selecting continuous professional development (CPD) and support, and ensuring that no school is left behind.
