Dear Colleagues,

As we approach the final week of the Autumn Term, we hope this email finds you well. Warm Season’s Greetings to you all! Please take a few moments to read through some important updates from the Hub.

ECT Induction Updates

Over the past term, we’ve had the privilege of quality-assuring ECT entitlements across the majority of schools in our region. It has been a pleasure to see how well new professionals are being supported and to provide additional guidance where needed.

If you have appointed an ECT to start in January 2025, please ensure you complete the following steps:

  1. Register New ECTs and Mentors: Use this link to register: https://manage-training-for-early-career-teachers.education.gov.uk/.

  2. Appoint Exceed Teaching School Hub as the Appropriate Body:

    • New users: Register for Exceed Teaching School Hub’s Appropriate Body service via 'ECT Manager'.

    • Existing users: Login to the 'ECT Manager' portal to register newly appointed ECTs.

Thank you for ensuring that all ECTs are correctly registered and supported.

NPQ Updates

The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed that scholarship funding for the Spring (April) 2025 cohort will follow the same format as the Autumn 2024 cohort. This funding aims to support teachers and leaders in schools and educational settings serving disadvantaged communities.

Scholarships to cover the full cost of NPQs will be available to:

  • The 50% of schools with the highest proportion of Pupil Premium funding.

  • 16-19 education settings identified as having high disadvantage.

  • Early Years practitioners in highly disadvantaged settings for the NPQEYL.

Additionally, scholarships will remain available for all teachers and leaders in publicly funded schools and 16-19 educational settings for the following NPQs:

  • NPQLPM

  • NPQSENCo

  • NPQH (including EHCO for eligible participants)

Note: For those intending to access the NPQSENCo, the qualification must begin by April 2025 to ensure prioritisation. Further information regarding recruitment and the allocation of NPQ places will be shared by late January.

STEM CPD Opportunities:

Please see a number of free CPD opportunities to sign up via the STEM Ambassadors initiative for our region here.

Thank you for your ongoing support throughout this term. Your dedication to fostering excellence in teaching and leadership does not go unnoticed. Wishing you a well-deserved rest and a joyful holiday season.

Warm wishes

Exceed Teaching School Hub, led by Harden Primary School and Exceed Academies Trust, has a leading role in signposting and delivering teacher development support to all 215 Bradford schools and our partners in other regions wishing to access support from Exceed Teaching School Hub.

The Hub helps to fulfil one of Exceed Academies Trust's ethical goals: to contribute to system-wide improvements in education.

Designated by the Department for Education (DfE) in February 2020, Exceed Teaching School Hub’s core functions support schools and trusts to invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders. We will achieve this through a place-based approach to signposting and delivering high-quality progressive teacher development programmes that complement the internal support provided by schools and trusts. Our vision acknowledges teacher and leadership development are two of the most important forms of school improvement. We will achieve this by enhancing partnership working with schools, trusts and high-quality providers; improving the communication of opportunities with the workforce; introducing new professional learning opportunities; supporting teachers and leaders to make informed choices when selecting continuous professional development (CPD) and support, and ensuring that no school is left behind.

Find out more about our vision, strategies and priorities here.
