  • FREE learning platform training

    Published 29/09/20

DfE have increased their expectations of schools in providing remote learning (30/09/20: See here for full details). To support schools to respond to this, Bradford Teaching School Hub has commissioned the Curriculum Innovation Centre to deliver a remote programme of training and support for one teacher and/or ITT trainee teacher in each Bradford school using the most popular learning platforms, namely G Suite for Education (including Google Classroom), Microsoft 365 (including Microsoft Teams) and Seesaw, in order to equip them with the confidence and skills to deliver a rich learning experience to pupils and/or students when providing remote learning in light of full or partial closure due to COVID-19. These colleagues will also be supported to provide training to colleagues in their own school.

Participants in the training are trained in one of these learning platforms. Training commences on the 13th October 2020 (see below for details).

From an ITT provider’s perspective, this is an opportunity to engage in an innovative approach to supporting pupil progress for your trainee teachers and links directly to the ITT core content framework.

  • DfE Transitionary Year Guidance

    Published 28/09/20

This document provides guidance to schools on the assessment and reporting arrangements for pupils working below the standard of the national curriculum assessments at key stages 1 and 2, in the 2020/21 academic year.

Pupils working below the standard of the national curriculum assessments at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 have been assessed using Performance scales (P scales) since 1998. Following the government response to the Rochford Review consultation, the government announced plans to remove the use of P scales.

Schools are now required to use the pre-key stage standards frameworks for statutory assessment at the end of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 for pupils working below the standard of the national curriculum assessments and engaged in subject-specific study, or who have not completed the relevant national curriculum programme of study.
