This Work Group aims to support teachers to develop specialist knowledge for teaching mathematics in the Early Years, with particular emphasis on developmental progression and Early Years pedagogy.
The Work Group will support teachers to promote positive attitudes to maths so that children are willing to have a go, persevere and share their mathematical ideas.

Teach First are part of the government's new National Tutoring Programme.
Working with Teach First you would gain salaried classroom experience, using your specialist subject. You would also be expedited for other Teach First programmes (subject to eligibility and availability). Upon completion of training, you would become a Teach First ambassador with salaries starting at £19,000 per annum (pro-rata)

Do you have non-specialists teaching secondary maths, physics or MFL?
Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST) offers free courses to support non-specialist teachers teach secondary mathematics, core maths, physics and MFL.

Mathematics and physics teachers in the first five years of their career are eligible for £2,000 retention payments after tax in each of 2019 to 2020 and 2020 to 2021 academic years, totalling up to £4,000. Applications for 2020 to 2021 academic year payment are now open.
Teachers must be employed in a state-funded secondary in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, or other Opportunity Areas (OAs) and can be employed on a full-time or part-time basis.

Teachers’ Student Loan Reimbursement is available to eligible teachers who completed their initial teacher training (ITT) from 2013 to 2014 academic year onwards.
